About PPGGTD
The Postgraduate Program in Governance and Digital Transformation (PPGGTD), formerly the Postgraduate Program in Computational Modeling of Systems (PPGMCS), is dedicated to training highly qualified professionals to face the challenges of the digital age, combining knowledge of computational modeling with advanced practices of governance and digital transformation.
The main objective of the PPGGTD is to train students to identify, analyze, and solve complex problems in various fields of knowledge, using advanced computational modeling techniques and innovative technological tools. Our focus is on optimizing processes and implementing solutions that promote efficiency and effectiveness in organizations, whether public or private.
Furthermore, the program aims to foster technological and scientific development in the Tocantins region, contributing to the development of professionals capable of applying their knowledge in local and regional contexts. Our graduates will be prepared to work in areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science, always with an interdisciplinary and practical approach.
PPGGTD students have the opportunity to develop applied research in their own professional contexts, collaborating with companies and governments to promote regional development. We are committed to academic excellence and practical relevance, preparing our students to be leaders in the digital transformation of their organizations.
History
The Postgraduate Program in Governance and Digital Transformation (PPGGTD) has its roots in the Postgraduate Program in Computational Modeling of Systems (PPGMCS), approved by Capes on March 28, 2012. Since the beginning of its activities on April 17, 2012, the program has stood out for training professionals capable of facing complex challenges using computational modeling.
The course's curriculum was carefully designed to provide students with the foundation necessary for advanced studies in fields such as artificial intelligence and machine learning. This solid foundation has enabled our students to achieve high-quality publications and make significant contributions to scientific and technological research.
Over the years, the PPGMCS has established several strategic partnerships that have strengthened its capacity to train qualified professionals. In 2013 and 2014, for example, it entered into an agreement with the Tocantins Institute of Science and Technology (IFTO) to train its technical and teaching staff, resulting in a project with significant impact on professional education. Subsequent projects with the Ministry of Education, the Regional Electoral Court, and the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins also contributed to the training of dozens of master's and doctoral graduates.
In 2018, the program developed a proposal for the implementation of the Professional Doctorate, which was recommended by Capes on March 27, 2019. This expansion enabled the training of doctoral graduates in areas critical to digital transformation and governance, further strengthening the program's ability to contribute to regional and national development.
The name change to the Postgraduate Program in Governance and Digital Transformation in 2023 reflects the program's natural evolution and its alignment with contemporary demands. The new name better captures the program's essence, which combines computational modeling with digital governance practices to transform organizations and foster innovation.
The PPGGTD continues to be a reference point in the north-central region of Brazil, attracting candidates from various states and establishing partnerships with national and international institutions. Our commitment to academic excellence and practical relevance remains unwavering, and we continue to seek new ways to contribute to the digital transformation and sustainable development of our society.
