    The Postgraduate Program in Mathematics Education in Tocantins (PPGEMaT), based at the Prof. Dr. Sérgio Jacintho Leonor University Campus - Arraias, was approved at the 233rd Meeting of the Technical-Scientific Council for Higher Education (CTC-ES) of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), held from October 14 to 18, 2024, published on the CAPES website on October 29, 2024, recommended and approved by the Ministry of Education (MEC), in the Official Gazette of the Union No. 43, of March 5, 2025, and recognized by MEC Ordinance nº. 214, of March 20, 2025.

    The PPGEMaT consists of the Master's Course, in the Academic modality, face to face, linked to the Teaching area of Capes (Area 46), in association, with the Federal University of Tocantins (UFT) as the executing institution and the other associated institutions: Federal University of North Tocantins (UFNT), Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Tocantins (IFTO), State University of Tocantins (Unitins).

    Mission

    To train researchers in the field of Mathematics Education with innovation, inclusion and quality, committed to the sustainable development of the Brazilian Legal Amazon.

    To be recognized, even in its first four years, as a quality, inclusive and innovative postgraduate program, based in the field of Mathematics Education and in line with the demands of the Brazilian Legal Amazon.

    Objectives

    To train researchers in the field of Mathematics Education capable of understanding the processes of teacher training, teaching and learning mathematics, committed to historical, social and cultural contexts.

    Specific Objectives

    • Conduct research on teaching and learning processes, and on initial and continuing education for mathematics teachers in sociocultural and inclusive contexts;

    • Stimulate the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge in the field of Mathematics Education;

    • Collaborate on innovative proposals for the integration of integrated technologies into mathematics teaching and learning processes in the Brazilian Legal Amazon, especially in the state of Tocantins.

    • Consolidate study and research groups on teaching and learning processes and the training of mathematics teachers.

    • Strengthen Mathematics Teaching and Education Laboratories focused on the training and research of mathematics teachers in undergraduate programs in Mathematics and Pedagogy and at the K-12 level.
