About PPGDR
The Postgraduate Program in Regional Development (PPGDR), located at the Palmas Campus, aims to prepare teachers for higher education, and to train and qualify high-level researchers and professionals to work in sectors related to regional development, from a systemic, plural and critical perspective.
The PPGDR professors have training backgrounds in different areas of knowledge (Economic Sciences, Social Sciences, Geography, Demography, History, Environmental Sciences, Administration), which contributes to a diverse and plural perspective on the issues that permeate regional development.
Permanent faculty members belong to the boards of various undergraduate programs, which allows for integrated activities with the faculty and students of these programs, particularly in research centers and projects. We also have faculty from other higher education institutions in Brazil and abroad who collaborate on research in this area.
Through agreements, exchange programs, and the sharing of experiences with faculty and researchers from other national and international institutions, the Program maintains ongoing contact with diverse realities, which complements and helps expand research, teaching, and outreach activities on issues related to regional development.
The PPGDR has distinguished itself in interdisciplinary research agendas related to territorial development. The diverse training of faculty and students has enabled the production of knowledge on topics of great relevance to regional development, such as: territorial development; federalism and public policies; social management and territorial issues; planning and social inclusion; gender relations; vulnerability and resilience; public policy evaluation; and policies promoting equality. This has been reflected in the development of several research projects with academic recognition and funding.
