About PPGHispam
The PPGHispam's general objective is to train professionals capable of developing research who are also highly qualified in teaching and developing policies for preserving Amazonian memories and cultural heritage. Its specific objectives include training professionals capable of understanding the historical and cultural diversity of Amazonian populations, with a focus on Indigenous peoples, riverside communities, quilombolas, sertanejos, settlers, and women exposed to land occupation for dam construction and agricultural expansion, as well as residents of peripheral areas in Amazonian cities undergoing urbanization. It also trains professionals working in archives, museums, public libraries, public administrators, and K-12 and higher education teachers. It also seeks to train professionals in history and related fields who are critically oriented and reflect on relevant issues related to the historical and cultural diversity of Amazonian populations.

The program's curriculum emphasizes training teachers capable of teaching history from the perspective of Amazonian populations with interfaces in the global context; training professionals capable of working in the field of organizing archives, museums, libraries, and other memory preservation spaces, at the state and municipal levels, in public and private institutions; encouraging theoretical and practical research related to Amazonian populations; promoting the development of teaching materials that enable knowledge about Indigenous peoples, quilombolas, riverside populations, country people, people affected by dams, miners, missionaries, migrants, cowboys, religious territorialities, regional/national integration projects, women's empowerment processes, and gender issues.
