Linguistic Studies:
The area of concetration in Linguistic Studies aims to conduct research and train human resources in the study of language, linguistic analysis, and applied linguistics. The area investigates linguistic phenomena through contemporary methods and approaches, discussing theoretical and epistemological assumptions and contributing to advancements in the field. It focuses on issues of linguistic analysis, description of linguistic systems, and the study of languages within the context of the Legal Amazon. It also addresses topics in applied linguistics, especially those related to language in use, language teacher education, language policies, and matters related to language teaching. Additionally, it examines text and discourse theories and their relationships with history. In this way, the concentration area strengthens the development of theoretical and methodological approaches in linguistic analysis and applied linguistics, covering a wide range of research in Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, Text and Discourse, and Brazilian Sign Language. The focus includes the mother tongue, Indigenous languages, Brazilian Sign Language, and foreign languages.
Literary Studies:
The area of concentration in Literary Studies aims to train human resources and advance research in literature. It contributes to research on literary issues grounded in contemporary critical and theoretical perspectives, focusing on literary and critical theories as well as interdisciplinary approaches to discuss theoretical, methodological, and critical contributions to literary studies. The area also fosters research on authors from the state of Tocantins and northern Brazil—many of whom remain unexplored—establishing dialogues with the canon of Brazilian literature to strengthen regionalist literature. The concentration area thus encompasses multiple aspects of literary studies that contribute to innovation in literary research.
