Admissions

The Postgraduate Program in Language and Literature at the Federal University of Tocantins (PPGLetras/UFT) holds annual selection processes for admission to the master’s course. The calls for applications are usually published in February, offering an average of 50 to 60 spots per period, depending on the capacity of the faculty. The spots are distributed among advisors and research lines.

A seleção para alunos regulares ocorre por meio de cinco etapas:

• Specific Knowledge Exam, eliminatory and classificatory, weight 4;
• Foreign Language Proficiency Exam, classificatory, no weight;
• Interview, eliminatory and classificatory, weight 3;
• Project Analysis, eliminatory and classificatory, weight 2;
• Curriculum Analysis, classificatory, weight 1.

Applicants must submit a research pre-project following the model provided in the call for applications. The program requires foreign language proficiency, accepting German, Spanish, French, and English, as well as Portuguese for indigenous candidates, foreigners, and deaf students.

Currently, PPGLetras offers spots for the “special student” modality whenever there are remaining openings in the offered cohorts, through a specific call.

Other Opportunities

In addition to regular admission, PPGLetras holds selection processes for voluntary postdoctoral positions.

The program also implements affirmative action policies, reserving spots for indigenous people, quilombolas, Black and mixed-race individuals, and deaf people.

Candidates must apply for positions in only one area of concentration and one research line, and must indicate, in their research project, the name of an advisor from the line they wish to join.
