Admissions
The Postgraduate Program in Geography at the Federal University of Tocantins (PPGG/UFT) holds annual selection processes for the admission of regular students into the master’s course. Calls for applications are generally published between September and October. The number of places, usually 15, depends on the availability of faculty supervision, with ten places for general competition and five for quota applicants. The places are allocated by supervising professor and research line.
The selection process for regular students involves three stages: evaluation of research proposals (eliminatory), oral examination (eliminatory), and curriculum evaluation (qualifying). Applicants must submit a research pre-proposal aligned with the research line indicated on the application form, which must not exceed 12 pages. Details on formatting are specified in the call for applications.
Candidates must also provide proof of proficiency in a foreign language through certificates or statements demonstrating sufficient reading comprehension in English, French, Spanish, German, or Italian.
The PPGG also offers admission as a “special student”, with calls for applications published before the beginning of each semester. The selection is simplified and based on the evaluation of the undergraduate academic transcript and the Lattes Curriculum.
Other Opportunities
The program holds annual selection processes for postdoctoral positions and for scholarships in the first semester of each year. Faculty accreditation and re-accreditation take place every two years.
