Admissions
The Professional Graduate Program in Philosophy (Prof-Filo) holds annual selection processes for admission to the master’s course. The notices are published on the program’s national network page, by UFPR, usually in August and September, with approximately ten openings per period for UFT. The openings are generally allocated one per advisor within the research area of Philosophy Teaching.
Admission for regular students is based on the evaluation of research projects and an interview. Applicants must submit a research project based on a problem or challenge in their teaching practice, with a proposal for an innovative intervention and a resulting educational product. Proficiency in a foreign language is not required.
At present, Prof-Filo does not offer admission in the “special student” category.
Other Opportunities
Although the program does not currently hold other types of selection processes, there are plans to expand these opportunities in the future. This master’s degree is part of teacher training policies for basic education and is aimed at Philosophy teachers who are already working in schools. To accommodate this audience, in-person classes are held on Mondays and, exceptionally, on Tuesdays in a remote (online) format. Students take two in-person courses in both the first and second terms, as well as one online elective in the first term, completing the program with the submission of a master’s thesis at the end of two years.
