Curriculum

The proposal of the Master's in Social Work at UFT has 36 credits and a total workload of 540 hours, encompassing compulsory and elective courses, as well as scheduled activities, also enabling the integration of up to twelve (12) non-compulsory teaching credits, according to UFT's Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Regiment. The admission of the students will be done by public selection of 10 (ten) students annually, through a public notice. The adoption of quotas of up to 50% for specific demands in the region is expected.

The course will be offered regularly guaranteeing the master's student's (mandatory and elective) courses; Teaching Internship, according to UFT's Stricto Sensu Postgraduate General Regiment, and scheduled activities (academic production and participation in research and outreach activities regarding research groups) to ensure qualification in research lines, in order to complete the course compatible with current CAPES requirements.

To this end, the following route is suggested with a total of 36 credits, distributed as follows: 20 credits in courses, 12 in general compulsory courses and eight in elective courses chosen by the master's student; 12 credits for dissertation guidance, 4 credits for the 1st and 2nd semesters, or 2 for each, and 8 credits for the 3rd and 4th semesters, or 4 for each; 2 credits for activities in academic production (participation in national/international congresses with presentation of work, publications in annals or journals); 2 credits for university outreach, involving the participation of the master's student in the activities of the research and outreach groups.

The student will be instructed to comply with the workload of compulsory and elective courses within two semesters. During the program, the student will have to comply with 4 credits, 2 credits for university outreach, which will be computed with their semiannual participation in research and outreach groups that have affinity with the object of study of the student. Two credits will also be required for academic production and they will be computed as follows: 1 credit for each instance of participation in a scientific event with full text publication and work presentation and/or 2 credits for each article published in a journal with a minimum qualis of B2 according to CAPES. For the validation of the credits, the submission of supporting documents will be required and the student will have to comply with the requirements up to 60 days before the dissertation submission. The student will be enrolled every semester in dissertation orientation until the submission and defense of the master's dissertation (computing 12 credits).

The research project qualification exam must be submitted up to the maximum period of 12 months after the first enrollment and the master's dissertation must be defended within 24 months of the first enrollment.
