Social Service, Social Policies and Rights:

The Postgraduate Program in Social Work at the Federal University of Tocantins (PPGSSocial/UFT) focuses on the production of knowledge related to Social Work and its foundations through studies and research, from an interdisciplinary perspective. It aims to train graduates to work in formative, investigative, and interventional dimensions, reflecting on sociability through its inherent contradictions. This requires the defense and realization of rights through social policies, understood as a space for mediation in the process of material production of social life. The themes involved in the training of social workers, as well as professionals in related fields, bring together theoretical reflections focused on social policies and rights in contemporary capitalism, with an emphasis on the relationship between the State and social classes regarding the demands for rights within the implementation and management of social policies. The courses are linked to the development of research carried out in the study and research groups linked to the program and outline an accumulation in the debate on diversity and human rights with a focus on the particularities of the northern region.
