Research Lines
Research Line I: Biology and Diversity
Its objectives are to develop an integrated view of organisms and their relationships with the environment through studies of the structural and functional biology of animal, plant, and microorganism species; to describe and understand biogeographic and phylogenetic patterns; and to contribute to expanding knowledge of biodiversity through the description, recognition, and characterization of species, reducing the underestimation of biota in the ecosystems of the Cerrado and Amazon regions.
Research Line II: Conservation and Management
Its focus is to understand the impacts of human actions on the functioning of ecological systems; develop applied studies on ecosystem conservation, including the identification of priority areas for protection, especially in the Cerrado and Amazon regions; and establish proposals for biota management and the restoration of degraded areas.
Research Line III: Population and Community Ecology
Its objectives are to investigate the structure and functioning of aquatic and terrestrial ecological systems, with a focus on populations and communities; to develop studies to describe, understand, and predict the structure and dynamics of populations and communities in natural systems and those modified by human actions, especially in the Cerrado and Amazon regions; to investigate patterns and processes at different spatial and temporal scales, involving animal, plant, and microorganism components.
